The document is the 1861 Ship's Census of "The British Oak" with Thomas Davison as the Master (Captain)
On 08 January 1889, Thomas Davison, then Master of "The Collier", his son, Thomas Jnr, and the Master's elder brother Joshua, all drowned at sea in St Georges Channel

Words cannot describe the feeling on discovering a document or solving a family "mystery"
John Henry Crump 1894 - 1896 & his wife, Mary Ellen (Nellie) Simon - 1889 - 1965.
I have such happy childhood memories of visits to Aunty Nellie & Uncle John at "Burton Cottage" & to his vehicle body building company a short walk away where the smell of newly cut wood filled the air.
My research found Aunty Nellie to be the half-sister of my maternal grandmother.
I wish I had a photo of her when she was young & courting Uncle John
I had known "Uncle John & Aunty Nellie" since childhood and I knew they were actual family, but I could not find how they were related.
My knowledge and determination enabled me to find the connection and a family secret I do not think my mother knew....
Mary Ellen (Nellie)Simon - 1889 - 1995 was 16 months old when her mother; Emily Simon (my Great Grandmother), married John George Gordon (my Great Grandfather) on 11 November 1890, but Nellie retained her father's surname "Simon", hence the mystery....
